Fourth Wall Event!

Hello, Witches Reign! For two weeks of March, we'll be hosting a fourth wall event starting from March 3^rd (or March 4^th if you live in the future) and ending on March 16^th. For two weeks, Gardenfolk will notice a sudden spike in off-worlders coming and going in Garden...

How this will affect you and your characters

Characters from other worlds, times, and places will be able to visit Garden! These characters may be your alternate selves from other universes, your parents, your friends, your other relatives, someone you talked to once back home, or someone completely new. Regardless of who that person is, they've been temporarily pulled into this world.

Garden faculty, noticing these off-worlders aren't seeming to consistently stick, will be waiting a few days to make sure off-worlders are sticking around before enrolling any new Cadets or hiring any new employees, so Cadet or staff apps accepted during this period will experience a few days' IC delay before enrolment or hire.

Classes will still be on, and may be justified by NPC instructors as cadets needing to learn how to concentrate on their mission amongst chaos. Whether fourth wallers are allowed to sit in on classes depends on the individual instructor (instructor players are feel to decide this for their classes), but it is less likely for classes with prerequisites, classes with confidential information such as COD 101 and para-magic classes, or classes that could be dangerous for inexperienced people such as CFT 101 and the intermediate/advanced weapons classes; the internships will definitely not allow fourth wallers.

How exactly this will work:

We have a post in witchesreign open for characters to mix-and-mingle; additionally, fourth wall characters will be able to reply to other open posts and logs for this two week period.

There ARE a few restrictions, however:

• Fourth wall characters can only be seen at certain hours of the day. They may appear for two hours a day, or four... or seen only in the early morning... the time doesn't matter to us, but they're not permanently here. They may return to Garden multiple times over the two weeks, but they're not around 24/7.
  
• Like apped characters, fourth wall characters can't be ridiculously-sized. Transformers, Gundams, and similar concepts/characters will become human-sized (and in the case of mechas, not allowed altogether.)
  
• Players (like you and me) are not allowed to visit Garden. We're breaking the fourth wall, not destroying it altogether!
  
• Apart from the mingle post, fourth wall characters are free to reply to open posts in witchesreign or open logs in concoursec.
  
• BBS posts are locked to in-game characters only. Fourth wall characters will not have access to any sort of logged in posts unless they hijack someone else's log-in -and in those cases, we need to know this beforehand.
  
• NEW: Fourth wall characters applied to the game have the option of keeping the memories of their fourth wall visit(s) here. Threads from the fourth wall may also be used as samples.
  
  For WR players:
  
• You may close your posts to in-game characters only. Just mark it as closed in the subject line.
  
• If your post is open to fourth wall visitors, please use the *post type: event tag as well as the usual action/BBS and character tags.
  
• Fourth wall tags do count for activity check.
  
• Characters keep all memories of things that occur during the event.

That's it for now! Fourth wall characters will officially be allowed to come in on March 3rd, but feel free to use this post for plotting/questions/etc. As always, if you have concerns, please reply to this post or use the other mod channels!

February activity check

This activity check will last from Monday February 25^th to Monday March 4^th. Anyone who hasn't replied by 11:59PM CST on Monday March 4^th will be regrettably removed from the game.

The activity requirement is:

Either
At least fifteen comments from your character in witchesreign
This may be action spam or on the BBS. You may link multiple threads to reach the requirement.

or
At least three prose comments from your character in concoursec
These must be from the same log.

With either option:

Comments must have been made in the month of February and/or the current AC week, provided you did not use them for the last AC.

Some of your activity must be on a post made in February and/or the current AC week, though backtagging may still be used for AC.

Exemptions:

New characters accepted from the last acceptance round (the 22^nd) and after (though you must check in next month, barring unexpected circumstances)

Players on hiatus who have posted to the hiatus page. If the dates on your hiatus have expired and you're still on hiatus, please update your hiatus notice. We do not account for unposted hiatuses and it is difficult for us to keep track of whether people have completely returned or are now on slowatus.

Other notes:

Please do not post your activity until you've at least hit the minimum comment count for an AC check in. In other words, do not link threads with less than the minimum comments with a note that they're ongoing. We clear the AC list throughout the week and want to be able to check you off once you post.

An easy way to count comments if you use Chrome, Safari, or IE is to log out of the character account and Ctrl + F their username on a thread. These browsers display the number of times your search term is on a page. (Firefox, unfortunately, does not. We will happily edit in other browsers which do or don't do this if you let us know about them.)

An easy way to keep track of your activity is to use your canon: character entry tag on all posts you comment on! If you do not yet have a tag or there is a problem with yours, please contact us.

If you do not have the required activity by the end of the AC week, you may take an activity probation, meaning you must submit double activity in your next AC. (This may be in any combination of the above activity proofs.) Please comment saying so if you would like to take a probation.

• If events fall out that you are on hiatus through an activity check on which you owed double activity for a probation, you must provide double activity on the next month's activity check.
  
• You must pass 2 ACs with the character in question before you may take another probation for them.

We do not reply to check in comments unless there is a problem such as broken links or not enough activity linked. You may assume you're clear if you don't receive a comment within a day.

Idles are not cleared until the Saturday after AC finishes. As such, if you know you are dropping, we would prefer you use the drop page.

Game

Activity check is now up! Please check in as soon as you can.

The game calendar is also now up! Events can be clicked on to see the rest of the text, since apparently Google Calendar embeds don't do linebreaks. If you use Google Calendar yourself, you can click on the + Google Calendar icon in the bottom right corner to add it to your calendars.

As you can see from the calendar, we'll be having a fourth wall event from Sunday March 3rd - Saturday March 16th. Additional deets and plotting post here! (In a separate post so you can share it with your friends without bogging them down in other game info.) Please advertise to your friends and on app_this_plz this weekend!

Other playables

GF Event: The winner of the random draw is... Chika Daimon!!
You may start this event whenever you like and may use this post to plot out your party and so on with other players. Chika must have at least one SeeD in her party to supervise obtaining the GF, though she is welcome to take as many people as she desires after that. The GF is in Dollet; they may have the Ragnarok take them to Dollet or make their own way there. This event must be posted by March 25th, though an extension may be granted if requested. If Chika does not post the event by this date, the runnerup Twilight Sparkle may play the event instead.

The charity trolley dash will be going up this Saturday!

School

It is week III of Year 3, trimester 1! Here are the syllabi for this week. The only change is that LAN 101 (Foreign Language) is studying Old Centran (Latin equivalent) this trimester rather than the Old Estharian (Russian equivalent) at the link.

If you haven't already, please add your character's schedule to the master class schedule for ease of seeing who all's in each class.

World news

This information can be picked up IC by various means. These could include but are not limited to newspapers and magazines (available in Balamb Town, by subscription, or in the library), word of mouth, NPC BBS posts, and a news ticker on the network (which also relays school news).

The groups who sponsor off-world and otherwise displaced cadets have all cut the number of cadets they are willing to sponsor in half, citing reasons such as funding reassessments and a decline in incoming cadets. This has no effect on currently sponsored cadets, only on the number of cadets they are willing to sponsor overall.
