This activity check will last from Monday July 1st to Monday July 8th. Anyone who hasn't replied by 11:59PM CST on Monday July 8th will be regrettably removed from the game.

The activity requirement is:
Either

At least fifteen comments from your character in [community profile] witchesreign
This may be action spam or on the BBS. You may link multiple threads to reach the requirement.

or

At least three prose comments from your character in [community profile] concoursec
These must be from the same log.

With either option:
  • Comments must have been made in the month of June and/or the current AC week, provided you did not use them for the last AC.
  • Some of your activity must be on a post made in June and/or the current AC week, though backtagging may still be used for AC.

  • Exemptions:
  • New characters accepted from the last acceptance round (the 13th) and after (though you must check in next month, barring unexpected circumstances)
  • Players on hiatus who have posted to the hiatus page. If the dates on your hiatus have expired and you're still on hiatus, please update your hiatus notice. We do not account for unposted hiatuses and it is difficult for us to keep track of whether people have completely returned or are now on slowatus.

  • Other notes:
  • Please do not post your activity until you've at least hit the minimum comment count for an AC check in. In other words, do not link threads with less than the minimum comments with a note that they're ongoing. We clear the AC list throughout the week and want to be able to check you off once you post.
  • An easy way to count comments if you use Chrome, Safari, or IE is to log out of the character account and Ctrl + F their username on a thread. These browsers display the number of times your search term is on a page. (Firefox, unfortunately, does not. We will happily edit in other browsers which do or don't do this if you let us know about them.)
  • An easy way to keep track of your activity is to use your canon: character entry tag on all posts you comment on! If you do not yet have a tag or there is a problem with yours, please contact us.
  • If you do not have the required activity by the end of the AC week, you may take an activity probation, meaning you must submit double activity in your next AC. (This may be in any combination of the above activity proofs.) Please comment saying so if you would like to take a probation.
    • If events fall out that you are on hiatus through an activity check on which you owed double activity for a probation, you must provide double activity on the next month's activity check.
    • You must pass 2 ACs with the character in question before you may take another probation for them.

  • We do not reply to check in comments unless there is a problem such as broken links or not enough activity linked. You may assume you're clear if you don't receive a comment within a day.
  • Idles are not cleared until the Saturday after AC finishes. As such, if you know you are dropping, we would prefer you use the drop page.

  • Please use this form for each character you play (all in the same comment is welcomed):

    Thank you!

Welcome to July, and with it, our return to 1:1 time! We hope you've enjoyed the June event, though of course we encourage you to continue to tag to its conclusion. If you have any feedback about the event, whether it's the content or the way it was run, please shout out in the comments!

    Game

  • June activity check is up! Please check in as soon as you can!

    The last three weeks

In game time, the event ended on June 12th. From what we've seen in the post, we're confident one of the multiple efforts to fix the situation will succeed, so we're assuming that one has. And since then...
  • Only the Tears' Point area was affected by the Gate of Truth opening, with those in this area being dragged into the spirit world.
  • Galbadia has blamed Esthar as well as Balamb Garden for not intercepting the Time Compression Mage while they had the chance rather than waiting until he tried something; Esthar blames Balamb Garden.
  • Balamb Garden thus went to Fishermans Horizon for repairs, and spent the rest of June there, returning to Balamb continent on June 30th. FH opinions on whether B-Garden did the right thing were mixed, with some citizens starting to reconsider violence as a necessary evil in the face of danger to others.
  • With the preparations for the battle, the battle itself, and recovery from injuries, there were no classes from June 10th - 14th, but classes resumed the week after, on June 17th (making that week the second of the semester). Absences were only granted for those still recovering from injuries; repairs were undertaken by FH engineers rather than by Gardenfolk.
  • Between the repair work, the medical costs, and some replenishment of supplies and weaponry, B-Garden is a bit broke. SeeDs are strongly encouraged to take on missions to help recoup the monetary costs of the battle.
  • All participating SeeDs have, however, been given a one rank raise. This has been updated.
  • Those who underwent gross physical change past the Gate have been subject to thorough studies to make sure they're okay, including observation, bed rest, and comparison of physical testing with previous tests. (Feel free to assume your character was part of this!)

    School

  • It is week four of the second trimester. LAN 101 is teaching Old Galbadian (Spanish equivalent) this trimester.
  • The Trimester 2 master class schedule is live, so you can plan your characters' classes and classmates! Remember, SeeD can audit classes alongside the cadets.

    Current world news

This information can be picked up IC by various means. These could include but are not limited to newspapers and magazines (available in Balamb Town, by subscription, or in the library), word of mouth, NPC BBS posts, and a news ticker on the network (which also relays school news). Feel free at any time to ask us for more details on any news items (this week's or previous week's) if you'd like them for character discussions!
  • Balamb (the country) has opened naturalized citizenship to off-worlders who have been in the world for at least three years and spent most of that time on Balamb continent. They have responded to criticism from both Galbadia and Esthar with the reasoning that the Time Compression Mage was just one person, whereas most of the off-worlder visitors they get from the nearby Garden are pretty alright people - and they'd been working on this before the whole Mage mess anyway. Some Balamb citizen whose identity has yet to be discovered expressed their criticism by throwing tomatoes at town council members as they went about their business.
  • Singer-songwriter Sadie Pang's tour began in Galbadia in mid-June; she will be playing the Balamb town hall on Saturday. (She's kind of pop-country. Think Taylor Swift!)

News from the last three weeks

  • Sales of gas masks in Esthar hit a record high amid fears of additional effects from the Time Compression Mage's experiment at Tears' Point. Post-Cry, sales declined again.
  • A Trabia man responded to news of the Lunar Cry by beginning to build a giant boat on which to escape any future Lunar Cries, reasoning that there aren't monsters at sea. (He lives inland and has never sailed...)
  • After the Lunar Cry, rumors have begun to spread of former Galbadian Senator Renata "you [censored] off-worlder" Layton returning to the Senate, with one source claiming to have heard her say "I was right about them all along". Layton declines to comment.
  • There are growing movements across Galbadia, Dollet, and Esthar to broadcast entertainment on television instead of only political news and documentaries. Those against claim cinemas, theaters, and radio already exist for entertainment purposes and television should be reserved for important information; those for are generally in support of entertainment and hope the move would provide jobs and boost flagging economies.
