REMINDER: July activity check is closing tonight! Please check in if you haven't already, or supply extra activity if you've been asked for it! (If you intend to drop a character, it is preferable you use the drop page, as AC idles are not cleared until Saturday.)

And a second reminder: concoursec, the logs community, is intended for prose logs using the log header (which is now stickied in that community for your convenience); the significantly lower AC requirement for these tags is on the premise that prose tagging tends to be more detailed and in-depth than action spam. SeeD field exam - cadet signups

The final test for becoming a SeeD is a live mission! (This won't be held until after the end of the trimester, likely around mid-September; we're just looking for an idea of numbers at this point.)

Only Cadets fifteen and over who have been in Garden for at least four terms and have completed all prerequisites for their specializations are eligible.

SeeDs may sign up to supervise closer to the time; right now signups are only for Cadets. These signups will be open for the rest of the trimester.

Raha Cup

The Raha Cup is Balamb town's annual sailing regatta, a race from Balamb Harbor up to the Raha Cape (on the western coast of the continent) and back. At the start point in Balamb Harbor, the public is welcome to watch the start and end of the race, and the Cup is trialling a new live broadcast of the race this year which may be viewed on a video screen back at the harbor.

On Saturday, we will put up a mingle post where characters may watch the race, purchase food and drinks, play with remote control boats in the harbor, and get facepaint.

Having received information about possible threats at the regatta, the Balamb town council is hiring SeeD and Cadets as security alongside the town's police force and volunteer militia. We will not be running formal signups for this, but players may post their characters acting as security in the harbor mingle post. You may choose to organize yourselves into pairs or small teams in the comments!

School

It is week nine of the second trimester. LAN 101 is teaching Old Galbadian (Spanish equivalent) this trimester.

The Trimester 2 master class schedule is live, so you can plan your characters' classes and classmates! Remember, SeeD can audit classes alongside the cadets.

World news

This information can be picked up IC by various means. These could include but are not limited to newspapers and magazines (available in Balamb Town, by subscription, or in the library), word of mouth, NPC BBS posts, and a news ticker on the network (which also relays school news). Feel free at any time to ask us for more details on any news items (this week's or previous week's) if you'd like them for character discussions!

As the heat wave in Galbadia continues, a fire caused by a fireworks accident at a Winhill flower festival lasted an unusually long time. Nobody died, but the historic pub (once run by Raine Loire) burned down.

Cavers in Centra have found a chocobo deep in a cave in the Almaj Mountains. The chocobo was hungry but otherwise in good physical condition; animal protection workers are caring for him until they deem him fit for rerelease back into the Forest of Fun (the nearest chocobo forest, near the Centra Orphanage).

We do also provide an alternative for characters who have failed activity check called activity probation. If you opt for this alternative, you must submit double the activity for your character in your next activity check (this carries through if you are on hiatus next activity check). If you would like to take an activity probation for a character, please comment noting so here. (You must pass two activity checks with the character in question before you may take another probation for them.)
