Year 3, Trimester 3, Week 5 news and playables post

Game

  • For an assortment of RL reasons, the mod team is down to just one person with a painful neck this week. We apologize for the delays in posts and responses this is causing.

    Playables

    Missions

    Mission: March of the Chocobos

On learning that the protest marches on Deling City will overlap with a reasonably influential yearly conference on technology and agriculture, one of the sponsors has hired SeeD to provide extra security detail while some of their equipment is in transit. However, with the conference underway, a small group of Sol Invictus members will (initially non-violently) crash the party; they will claim that one of the inventions being showcased, a new type of industrial hovercar, is built on off-world technology and potentially dangerous enough that they intend to dispose of it - but not to hand it over to SeeD, whom they believe is not as well-equipped for the job.

The first mission priority is to keep the alleged off-world machine out of SI's hands while protecting the civilians present. The second mission priority is to gather whatever intel is available on the machine, including tracing how SI became aware of it, and if necessary to secure it for Balamb Garden.

Team Members: Maximum of 4, one of which may be a cadet.
    Instructor Aid: Maximum of 2.

Sign up here! Due to the current situation of the mod team, the mission will be backdated once signups close.

    Mission: Cabin on the Plains

Seeking to curb some of the wild, ghostly rumors being passed around the student body of Garden about the unassuming and apparently uninhabited log cabin that mysteriously materialized in Garden's usual parking spot during break, the faculty has ordered an official investigation into the site.

The first mission priority is to assess the building and its surroundings thoroughly for safety. The second mission priority is to neutralize anything that appears to present an immediate or short-term threat to Garden, should it be necessary.

Team Members: Maximum of 4, two of which may be cadets.
    Instructor Aid: 1.

Sign up here! These mission logs will go up this week, although you can still sign up and enter the logs until Friday.

    School

  • It is Week 5 of the second trimester. LAN 101 is teaching Old Dollet (French equivalent) this trimester.
  • Don't forget to add your character to the master schedule for CR planning if you haven't already.

    World news

This information can be picked up IC by various means. These could include but are not limited to newspapers and magazines (available in Balamb Town, by subscription, or in the library), word of mouth, NPC BBS posts, and a news ticker on the network (which also relays school news). Feel free at any time to ask us for more details on any news items (this week's or previous weeks') if you'd like them for character discussions!

  • Time Compression continues to run rampant. Reports have come in from all across the globe of mysterious or inscrutable places appearing, oftentimes directly in or around normal places or landmarks.
  • A movement which supporters call a political party and detractors label a cult has emerged in Esthar. This organization, named World First, openly argues that offworlders are responsible for the woes of Time Compression.
  • A Winhill farmer claims he was attacked by a giant chocobo made of pure light and breathing fire. No one else has seen this chocobo, but mysterious tracks that seem to belong to a bird of incredible size were found in the fields where he says he saw it.
